The History of Katy
Katy was born just a few years after Len in Winslow, ME to Michael and Evelyn “Cricket” Bizier. Mike was an avid fly fisherman, and worked as a carpenter-millwright. He sadly passed away in 2018 due to a long-term degenerative neurological disease. Cricket was a registered nurse, and loved to knit and garden. Her parents purchased land in Rangeley Plantation on the same lake where the ceremony is being held. They slowly built a camp, which the family regularly enjoyed, skiing in the winters at Saddleback and swimming, boating and fishing in the summer. This property is now in a family trust, and is the reason Len came to love the area, and a major reason why they chose the venue. Katy’s mom Cricket unfortunately passed away 6 months after her husband due to pancreatic cancer. Both, along with Len’s dad, will be honored in a few ways on the day of the ceremony.
Katy is the middle child, with an older brother Nick, and younger sister Jen. As a young girl, she was always drawn to the outdoors, adored flowers, preferred to wear frilly dresses, and absolutely loved dance class. Here she can be seen practicing for her very important role of flower girl.
Katy decided to attend college close to home at Colby College where she studied biology. A fun fact about Katy is that she was also the 2003 Maine Apple Queen. After college she moved down to Boston to earn her Masters Degree in Science Education, and worked for 7 years as a high school teacher and community college adjunct instructor. She moved back to Maine to be closer to her siblings and parents in 2017. She went back to school in 2021 and earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health, and now works full time for the Brain Injury Association, helping people navigate the system of care with long-term chronic health issues.

Here she is seen with her family at high school graduation, along with her grandparents Les and Eleanor McCowan - the ones that brought Rangeley and Mooselookmeguntic into our lives.
